CRISP E&O website for educators
Our Education & Outreach program has created a website specifically for educators. The purpose of this site is to make it easy for New Haven area educators to share interdisciplinary science resources. Materials science and nanotechnology are examples of interdisciplinary science fields. This site allows registered users to submit and downloadlesson plans, relevant articles, and other resources. Uploaded modules will be reviewed by a curriculum development specialist with expertise in physics education research.
The educational outreach goals of CRISP include providing research experiences to New Haven and local high-school educators engaged in the Master in Science Education program at Southern Connecticut State University, as well as offering professional development workshops for educators (grades 8-14).
CRISP E&O facilitates the implementation of interdisciplinary science in the classroom using materials science as a vehicle for enhancing scientific literacy. Our Center acts as a "clearing house" for interdisciplinary science resources to New Haven area schools, through kits available for educators to use in their classroom, and requesting visits to our CRISP facilities or classroom visits.
