The Cluster also provides tools that can generate images of surface or near-surface characteristics, such as topography or electronic structure, at length scales from microns down to nanometers in environments ranging from ultra-high vacuum to fluids. The CCMR facilities are run by expert staff who provide training and technical assistance.</p></div></div></div> Wed, 25 Mar 2015 04:32:59 +0000 admin 3341 at https://www.mrsec.org Multi-Angle Light Scattering Instrument https://www.mrsec.org/facilities/multi-angle-light-scattering-instrument <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><p>The LRSM installed a new Multi-angle Light Scattering Instrument – an LS Spectrometer, from LS instruments in the Spring of 2023.  This instrument enables a broad range of materials characterization through static and dynamic light scattering. Capabilities enabled by the SLS/DLS instrument include particle size determination, studies of relaxation dynamics, and investigation of thermodynamic interactions of species in suspension (e.g., nanoparticles; polymers; colloidal species).</p></div></div></div> Wed, 15 Nov 2023 19:30:57 +0000 admin 6855 at https://www.mrsec.org Rheology Center https://www.mrsec.org/facilities/rheology-center <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><h3>Location: <strong>LRSM Building</strong><br />Supervisor/Coordinator: <strong>Paul A. It maintains an Anton Paar MCR 301 rheometer with fully automated measurement capabilities in both stress- and shear-rate-controlled modes. Tools for parallel plate, cone, and Couette measurement geometries are available with temperature-stabilized sample stages and solvent trap. The system also can apply electric fields (up to 5 kV) and magnetic fields (up to 1 T) to characterize electro-and magneto-rheological fluids.</p> </div></div></div> Wed, 25 Mar 2015 06:31:47 +0000 admin 3405 at https://www.mrsec.org The Soft Materials Characterization Laboratory (SMCL) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison https://www.mrsec.org/facilities/soft-materials-characterization-laboratory-smcl-university-wisconsin-madison <div class="field field-name-body field-type-text-with-summary field-label-hidden"><div class="field-items"><div class="field-item even" property="content:encoded"><h4>A complete facility for analysis and characterization of soft materials and polymers </h4> <h3>Open to faculty, students and industrial customers</h3> <p>The Soft Materials Characterization Laboratory (<abbr title="Soft Materials Laboratory">SMCL) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison provides a research facility for analysis and characterization of synthetic polymers, soft materials and polymer devices.</abbr></p></div></div></div> Wed, 25 Mar 2015 13:46:19 +0000 admin 3459 at https://www.mrsec.org
