A new travel award will support up to five MRSEC trainees from any of the 20 current MRSEC Centers or their NSF-funded PREM partners across the United States to attend and present research at the 2026 Materials Research Society Spring Conference in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Made possible through an NSF supplement to the national MRSEC Education Directors’ Network, the award provides $2,000 to help cover conference-related travel expenses, including registration fees, lodging, flights, meals, and ground transportation.

Applicants must be full-time MRSEC-funded trainees — undergraduate students, graduate students, or postdoctoral researchers — who have successfully submitted and received approval for an abstract to be presented at the 2026 MRS Spring Meeting and Exhibition, scheduled for April 26 through May 1, 2026, in Honolulu.

Applications are due Sunday, March 22, at 11:55 p.m. PST. The application requires completion of an online form, including a statement of interest and instructions for emailing a current resume.

Questions or issues with the application form should be directed to UC San Diego MRSEC Education Director Stacey Brydges at [email protected]. Successful applicants will be notified by Monday, March 30, and award fund transfers will be coordinated by UC San Diego MRSEC.
