IRG2 provides a set of fundamental scientific insights required for applications of organic/inorganic interfaces. These include understanding the coupling between electronic states located on molecules and those in inorganic semiconductors, exploiting electron extraction from surfaces and quantum structures, the design and fabrication of functional interfaces, and the dynamics of the structure of optically excited interfaces. Such interfaces can be boundaries of materials in devices or domain boundaries within composites, heterostructures, and bulk heterojunctions.
