Scalable templated growth of graphene nanoribbons on SiC: Direct nanoribbon growth avoids the need for damaging post-processing.

• Self-organized growth of graphene nanoribbons 

(as narrow as 40 nm) at specified positions on  templated SiC substrate prepared using scalable photolithography and microelectronics processing.

• Prototype graphene devices exhibit ballistic transport at low temperatures, an on–off ratio of 10.
