The LRSM and the Singh Center for Nanotechnology the University of Pennsylvania hosts field trips throughout the year to help students learn more about materials science and engineering. Student groups will tour nanofabrication facilities and explore how multidisciplinary approaches are used to solve fundamental materials problems that are likely to underlie future technologies. The field trips are a great way to experience the campus community, learn more about our facilities and services, and speak with a scientist/engineer.

The Future Leaders in Advanced Materials (FLAM) Program is an NSF REU at UCSB's Materials Research Laboratory, providing internships for science and engineering students to gain research experience.

The PCCM at Princeton offers prestigious postdoctoral fellowships for early-career scientists in materials science, focusing on innovative research in areas like topological quantum matter and macromolecular structures.

Harvard’s MRSEC collaborates with Cambridge Public Schools and Project TEACH to enhance K-12 STEM education through interactive programs, research internships, and teacher support initiatives to foster early career awareness.

The Center for Emergent Materials at Ohio State University focuses on interactions with industry and National Labs through scientist-to-scientist collaborations and through frequent events that provide opportunities for our students to interact with representatives of these companies and institutions.  One area of focus is on collaborations with researchers at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson Air Force base in nearby Dayton, OH.  CEM has organized collaborations of nearby MRSECs to hold Industry Days that attract a larger slate of industry and national lab reps than we are able to attract for a single center.  As a virtual event this is simpler to organize and much valued by students.

The UMN MRSEC facilitates industrial collaboration through IPRIME, promoting knowledge transfer in a nonproprietary environment, enhancing engagement between academic researchers and industry professionals.

The MRL outreach program features hands-on K-12 activities exploring materials science, including magic sand, heat-sensitive materials, memory wire, sodium polyacrylate, and ferrofluids presented by graduate students.

The NanoCamp! program at UW MEM-C teaches nanotechnology concepts and techniques to sixth to eighth graders through hands-on experiments and discussions with professionals in the field.

The Wisconsin-Puerto Rico PREM enhances educational and research opportunities in Materials Science for Hispanic students through interdisciplinary collaboration among UPRM and UW-Madison faculty and researchers.

The RET program at MRSEC offers teachers hands-on research experience, mentoring, and activity development, enhancing classroom engagement with science while providing a stipend and supplies budget for implementation.
