Converging technologies at the nanoscale: the making of a new world?
The design of artefacts commonly involves the convergence of many technologies; this re-mains true for artefacts now being created at the nanoscale. However, round about 2000 the phrase ???converging technologies??? acquired a special interpretation related to the convergence of biotechnology, nanotechnology, information technology and cognitive science (acronym BNIC) for the improvement of ???human performance.???

Education Directors Meeting, Dec 2014
The next meeting of the MRSEC education directors is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, December 3rd and 4th at MIT in Cambridge, MA. We will begin at 3:00 on Wednesday with a discussion of the network's goals and meetings of the subcommittees. We will be finished by 4:00 on Thursday afternoon. Please mark your calendar. New.Mech is a one-day workshop designed to bring together New England’s Mechanics community looking to explore new research and share advancements in the field. This workshop — co-hosted by Harvard MRSEC — will not only include keynote presentations and three-minute talk sessions but will also provide participants with the opportunity to display their own demos. Frontiers of Photoactive Soft Materials Workshop: Manipulating Soft Matter with Light
The University of Colorado, Boulder will host the Frontiers of Photoactive Soft Matter Workshop -- a two-day event focusing on advances in soft materials that are responsive to light. UD and Princeton Partner on Soft Matter for All Workshop
UD CHARM joins Princeton University’s Center for Complex Materials to host a one-day symposium to promote early-career researchers in the field of Soft Matter. Participation will bring together faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students and senior undergrads from around the United States, with a focus on those from under-represented groups, to celebrate diversity and creativity in this emerging field.
